Our classmates received valuable information about personal branding, effectively using social media and more in our master classes this year, and we’re passing on some key tips to you.
Posting Brand Tagged Images to Social Media
Before creating images to draw attention of brands, first study the social media accounts of the brand you’re planning to use. Then base your production on what you’ve gathered from the brand. This is a great way to get attention and a possible repost from the brand you’re targeting because it compliments their social media feed.
Be Your Brand
As an artist, your appearance and personality are an integral part of your first impression. When referring to branding, one of our experts quotes Jay Danzie: "Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others feeling after an experience with you becomes your trademark."
In This Industry
Perseverance is key. In an industry as large as beauty and fashion, it can be difficult to shine the brightest amongst a sea of stars. But that’s no reason to get discouraged. Make your passion your paycheck, stay up to date with industry news and trends, experiment with new looks, palates and muses. Invest in your own education and learning to stay relevant. Always be curious.
Make the Most of Every Opportunity
Valuable assisting jobs can be hard to come by. Kahlana Barfield, InStyle Beauty Director, shared her journey through an internship and then a blazing career path, by being an invaluable assistant and making the most of her opportunity. In early and out late, always on the ball, organized and focused, she exceed expectations and reaped the benefits at every stage of her climb to the top.
Take Advantage of Social Media
Use Instagram like an online portfolio, post polished images, develop a consistent theme, shape your feed into a masterpiece of art. Your art.
One of our pros suggests keeping a professional account separate from your personal one. Allowing you to showcase your work on one stage, while indulging in a healthy social life on the other.
We love using twitter as a means for great conversation. By posting thought provoking questions, we invite our audience to communicate with us the areas of their career that could benefit from additional education, like a Master Class.
Use social media as platform to better your understanding of your industry or interest. Get informed, voice your opinion and ask questions, the value and possibilities you can discover through communication will surprise you.
